Chile to debut national pavilion at Bio International Convention 2012 in Boston, Massachusetts

Biotechnology experts from around the world will land in Boston from June 18 to 22 for the industry’s most important conference: the Bio International Convention.

The four-day event will bring together some 15,000 people from more than 65 countries to look at the full spectrum of biotechnological innovation, from drug breakthroughs to biofuels, nanotechnology, genomics and cell therapy.

A new fund to finance ventures where biotechnology has a good chance , opened ProChile . This tender is valid between April 4 and May 4, 2012 and the application is done only through the site www.prochile.gob.cl / ContactChile .

As reported by the competition website , is aimed at businesses and enterprises that have a high technological content , which have a proven business model , an obvious process of adding value, and a high export potential and growth of areas of information technology and communication ( software development, internet applications and mobile telephony) , environmental solutions tip , biotechnology and biomedicine, among other technological components to consider .

Chile realiza el primer vuelo comercial con biocombustible de Sudamérica

Felipe Camposano, Director of Development for the sector brand Chile Biotech, was on board the flight and highlighted the event’s potential to support the development of the biorenewables industry in Chile.

On March 7, 2012, LAN Airlines y Copec took a step forward in the global search for sustainability, launching South America’s first ever commercial flight powered by second generation biofuels.

The historic flight between the Chilean cities of Santiago and Concepción was made aboard an A320 Airbus with CFM56-5B engines. The fuel was produced from refined vegetable oil residues, and met the strictest technical standards required for flights.
